Chapter 67

The entire room was pitch black, no matter how much she squinted, she couldn't make out anything. It was too dark, she mused fearfully.

Jason whispered something inaudible but Darla must have heard because she snorted. Maya gripped Gab's fingers and squeezed making the girl nudge her,

"How far did Micah say they were?" She asked quietly, her other hand tightening around the balloon strings, "I can't stay like this much longer. You know how much I hate the dark."

Gab squeezed back, "I know. But he said he would be here any minute from-"

The sound of tires approaching made them freeze instantly. Maya's eyes widen a fraction when the headlights flashed against her face, she quickly ducked to avoid being caught.

"They're here," Darla murmured, excitement lacing her tone and Maya gulped.
