'Roxy, wake up!’ Adrian spoke to her as she lay still. ‘Bring the smelling salt!’ he ordered.

Roxy coughed after sniffing, and comes awake.

‘What is this stunt you are pulling?’ he asked.

‘Do as I command, Iris!’ Adrian said in a hard voice. He had never used such a voice on Iris before and Iris was very shocked and speechless. Today, they were supposed to be happiest and mating lovingly, Adrian was snapping at her as though they were foes or as though they were having a row’.
