“Detective Huck,” Huck answers the phone on his desk.

“Huck, I can’t find any machine in the ice plant that matches the wounds. We are going to have get used to the idea this was an animal attack,” The medical examiner tells him.

“You are telling me an animal did this? Wouldn’t an animal have used teeth? What animal kills using only it’s claws?” Huck asks frustrated. He saw the body, an animal that could do that damage? He shivers at the idea.

“I don’t know, but I think we need to tell all these camper living folks to be more careful,” the medical examiner tells him.

“Thanks,” Huck shakes his head as he hangs up.

Huck has five open homicides but this hooker from the ice plant had him in knots.

He switched his computer over to nationwide database and enters all the details. There are two similar matches about 16 hours away. Only those had teeth marks.

He uploads the crime scene photos and starts talking to Detective Sawyer in New Mexico.
