Chapter 2-TITAN

Chapter 2-Titan

“We keep moving,” Titan tells his elite warriors. “Never stop. You stop moving, you die. Always forward. Never stop.”

The warriors are running in place with their Alpha.

Beta Adrian checks his phone, who emails at 6am?

Adrian smiles seeing it’s little Iris all grown up. Adrian looks at Titan and shakes his head remembering Titan and Iris as children.

Adrian is sure Iris was too young to remember all those experiences, but Adrian and Titan sure would.

“Okay guys, great effort,” Titan tells the warriors. “Let’s shift and go on the run.”

Titan’s wolf, Mars, loves this part of training. Mars howls as the warriors shift.

Adrian- Future Alpha Iris has requested a meeting.

Titan- Who?’

Adrian- We can talk when you get back.

Titan- Fine, we will talk when I get back.

Mars leads the warriors at top speed. Adrian brings up the rear to encourage the slower warriors.

Adrian- Tyson is still lagging.

Titan- Ask him to join you and I before the locker room today.

After the run Titan, Adrian, and Tyson meet in a small office.

“I know Alpha, my wolf is just not fast,” Tyson nods.

“Your wolf’s name is?” Titan asks.

“Cross,” Tyson answers.

“What is his explanation for his lack of speed?” Titan asks.

“He says it’s not in our nature. But I’m a good warrior, one of your best in human form,” Tyson defends himself.

Titan nods, “It’s true you are. There are maybe ten warriors I want with me in battle in human form, you are on the top of the list. But if Cross is saying speed is not your nature, then we need to find your nature. Knowing our talents can help the pack be better. Adrian wanted to be a doctor, but his wolf is a warrior, and his talent is business and diplomacy. So, no doctor. Whatever your talent is will be helpful to the pack. I need you and Cross to discover your talent and let that be your gift to the pack. In the meantime, you keep working to be the best warrior. I won’t give up on you, if you won’t give up on you.”

“Thank you, Alpha,” Tyson nods before leaving.

Adrian leaves to begin to handle pack affairs, while Titan leads a few elites in personal sparing.

“Let’s see what you got?” Titan smiles at one of his warriors.

They spar with Titan coaching the whole time.

“Good work,” Titan smiles at them. “Now I have to go do real work.”

Everyone laughs as Titan rushes to his room on the Beta floor to shower.

Adrian come to talk as Titan gets dressed.

“Explain this to me again?” Titian rolls his eyes as he changes his clothes to meet a future Alpha. He chooses the gray three piece today.

His long dark blonde hair in a neat bun.

Beta Adrian rolls his eyes. “Future Alpha of the Animus pack, Iris, has something important to discuss with you. You must remember the little blonde ball of fire that would reap havoc on the packhouse before her mother died,” Adrian and Titan lock eyes as memories flood Titan’s brain. “She requested a meeting today at lunch and since you were free, I set it up. Don’t worry, I’m not leaving you alone with a girl. I’ll be there too.”

Titan rolls his eyes. “You think I need you there? I can talk to a girl.”

“You can talk to a girl you want to sleep with, but can you talk to a girl and not try to get her to go to bed with you?” Adrian asks with raised brows.

Titan holds up two ties and Adrian choose the darker shade of blue to contrast the gray suite better.

“Is there another reason to ever speak to a woman?” Titan laughs. “It's a joke, Adrian. Calm down. I’m not so far gone I can’t see what I just said was wrong. But it was funny.”

Titan holds up a pair of black loafers.

Adrian shakes his head. “Actually, it’s not funny. You need to stop and realize it’s not funny at all.”

Titan pulls out the black dress shoes and Adrian nods.

“You need a sense of humor my friend,” Titan ties his shoes and heads down to his office.

“Do you care what is on the menu for Lunch?” Adrian asks.

“I barely care at all about this lunch, why would I care about the menu. She is going to ask for my protection. She going to offer to become my chosen mate since my mate is dead. She may offer to merge packs. Which is the only way I would take her as my Luna,” Titan sits behind his desk and starts working.

“The pack would like to see you take a Luna,” Adrian reminds him. “We have more than a few amazing she-wolves here. We could go out later and mingle where they hang out.”

Titan shakes his head the wound still fresh. “I may have a second chance somewhere. I don’t want her walking into a hornet's nest of crazy hoes.”

“As much as I wish you would relieve a little tension, I agree with that statement,” Adrian sits down, and they discuss pack business for a while. Before Adrian goes to his own office and gets to work as well.

Titan works for a while, but his wolf Mars wakes up to chat.

Mars- You know she might be cute.

Titian- You know she is a high school student and from what I can remember, she is nuts.

Mars- We are only 20, moron.

Titan- I think you and I can agree we have aged a lot.

Mars- She left us, Titan. She and her wolf. We owe her nothing. I am your wolf, and I am telling you it's okay to find a companion. She is wrong for what she did. We didn’t do anything.

Titan- Won’t she feel it? I mean, there was no rejection.

Mars- There was no accepting either. She would rather believe lies than the truth. Moving on.

Titan- I don’t want to talk about it anymore.

Mars goes quiet as Titan focuses on pack affairs. He tries not to think about his mate. He held her once and she was gone. He didn’t even get to know her name.

The moment he gave her his name, she pulled away and ran. Titan had been stunned by her speed. Mars was pretty fast, but she was gone in a flash.

Adrian got the story out that Alpha Titan had been mated to a rogue, who died after attempting to attack. Most packs felt sorry for young Titan. Others started a rumor that he killed his own mate because she was a rouge.

Titan shakes all thoughts of the bouncy blonde who ripped his heart out from his head.

He goes back to work.

When he finishes most of his work, he checks the clock. He still has a solid hour before his lunch. She will be just getting into the car.

Titan grabs his favorite tea from the hot bar in his office and makes a kettle. Once the kettle whistles, Titan pours a cup and lets the tea brew. He goes to a small bookshelf behind his desk. He scans the books. Collective works of Byron, Shakespeare, Milton, Frost, Austin, Cummings, Brontë, L. Huges and Knowles. But Titan wasn’t in the mood for heavy. He went to the bottom shelf. B. Potter, AA Mine, Dr. Suess, The Giving Tree, Rainbow Fish, and Mother Goose.

Titan smiled to himself as he chooses Jemima Puddle Duck.

He takes his tea and sits on the balcony outside of his office. He reads the book and sips his tea. As his cup becomes empty, he looks out over the lawn. The pack’s littlest pups are playing.

“Hello, Alpha,” Miss Thompson waves.

The Alpha office is on the second floor, so they can all see him. Titan waves back and the pups all jump up and try to get his attention. Titan stands up and removes his suit jacket. He straightens his vest and places his book in his pocket. He then jumps down to join the pups.

“Hello, Andrew,” Titan smiles at his Gamma’s son. “How would it be if Alpha reads you a story today?”

Miss Thompson’s jaw drops as her 6’4” Alpha, still wearing his suite pants and vest, sits on the ground. Andrew, the bravest of this class, sits directly in the Alpha’s lap.

Titan pulls the book from his pocket and reads. He uses a high pitch squealy voice for Jamima and a low gruff voice for the fox. The pups laughed a little at his voices, and frowned when the puppies ate the eggs. They all looked a little sad that Jamima only got four ducklings from her next nest.

“I’ll bet something,” Titan says to the 7 pups in front of him. “I’ll bet each of you little pups has broken something you didn’t mean to.”

All the pups looked around a nodded.

“See, so we have to forgive those puppies. And she did get four babies out of it in the end. Four ducklings is a lot to take care of.”

All the pups laughed and nodded.

Titan picked up Andrew and placed him with the group. Titan then stood up and brushed himself clean.

“If you are extra good, Miss Thompson will tell me and I will bring another book tomorrow.” Titan tells them, winking at Miss Thompson.

“Everyone, say thank you Alpha!” Miss Thompson directs her class.

“TANK EWW APA,” the littles all call, making Titan smile.

When he smiled, his brown eyes twinkled.

“You are welcome,” Titan reaches above him and pulls himself up to his balcony. He puts on his suite jacket, returns his cup and book before heading to the foyer.

He makes it to the front porch as a car pulls up.

“Just in time,” Adrian smiles and opens the door for Iris.

She and Titan lock eyes and he can’t believe what he sees. She is beautiful. And suddenly he remembers her as a child. Titan should step forward but is so lost in his memories he freezes.
