Scarlett’s POV

Freda's eyes locked with mine, her gaze unwavering despite her weakened state. "Promise me, Scarlett, that no matter what happens to me, even if I don't make it through this, you will make sure the pack is safe. You will protect them and lead them with strength and wisdom," she implored.

My heart sank at her words, and I immediately shook my head in denial. "No, Freda," I interrupted, my voice filled with determination. "You're going to be fine. You're going to recover and be back on your feet in no time. I won't let anything happen to you."

Freda's eyes softened with understanding, but she persisted, her voice barely a whisper. "Scarlett, I appreciate your optimism, but we must face the reality of the situation. Promise me that you'll be there for the pack, no matter what. Promise me, Scarlett."
