The car ride from the airport to the pack lands was long and silent.

Damon sat silently staring out the window.

I sat silently, staring at my fingers and occasionally, him.

I really didn't have much to say.

I still felt... ashamed, embarrassed.

I risked everything for... nothing.

I could have died.

But they didn't care.

They still probably don't.

And they never will. Not anymore.

My own family. They turned their backs on me.

Without an ounce of guilt.

I tried to blink back the tears that were beginning to form in my eyes.

I couldn't let them fall, otherwise they wouldn't stop.

Looking back at it, it was a stupid move.

I did it out of impulse.

I wasn't even thinking straight.

Obviously.

I just thought that, maybe they called me because they needed me, wanted me back.

But they just wanted to save their own asses.

They called me to save them but who was supposed to save me?

Damon.

And he did.

He actually flew out of the country to find me.

He cared enough to fight for me.
