Chapter 19 – Confronting the Past “What the hell are you doing here Geminie?!” Mika growls out, refusing to sit as he anger radiates across the room. I roll my eyes at his outburst, flipping through the binder prepared for today and taking out a contract signed by him. “That my dear EX-mate is a good question. As I stated, being an Alpha with a request I already approved of as well as the Future Moon Goddess, I have obligations I must fulfill.” I state mater of factly, throwing the contract towards Mika and leaning back on the chair. “Besides, the Head Priestess would give me an earful for neglecting my duties as the daughter to the Moon Goddess.” I add at the end, my eyes glowing silver as I try my best to hide my rising emotions. Lace gasps in shock, her head snapping in my direction as she sizes me up. “What do you mean?” The she wolf questions, once again causing me to roll my eyes. “It’s as I state
Chapter 20 – Following my Paws I run as fast as my four legs can carry me, my fur blowing in the wind as I jump over ditches, fallen trees and streams. I needed to release the remainder of the pent up anger before I can return to helping Hidden Claws. I couldn’t allow my emotions to get the better of me while here. My paws carry me to a familiar path, wading through a stream that quickly becomes a river leading to a familiar waterfall that I have not visited in years. With ease I slip behind the vines and continue down the tunnel until the secret valley where Lizaria and the unicorns used to live. My safe haven away from Hidden Claws. Trotting to the familiar willow tree, I curl into a ball underneath and open the link that can reach through time and space thanks to my mother. [Liz.] I call out, a whimper to my voice. [Yes Little Wolf?] Her voice calms me and I give a small smile, happy to know the Elf can hear me. [The p
Chapter 21 – Restructuring I sigh as Mika and Lace continue to argue over the pack finances, Lace wondering why six-thousand dollars were spent on alcohol monthly as Mika tries to deflect the conversation to a different direction. I have a hunch on why the money was spent that way, one that caused me immense pain every time Mika decided to throw a she-wolf into bed with him. But I will let Lace figure it out on her own. “Mika, please tell me you did not spend six-thousand on she wolves?” Lace asks, rubbing the bridge of her nose. “It was Bastian’s idea. He said I needed a mate and would throw lavish parties for me to meet she-wolves!” Mika finally shouts out and I roll my eyes. Of course it would be that bastard’s idea. Knowing what happens to a she-wolf when her mate screws around with another she-wolf is something every werewolf learns in sex-ed. “No wonder Geminie hates you! I hate you!” Lace shouts, the room going si
Chapter 22 – Sharpening the Hidden Claws As I stand on the side of the familiar outdoors training ground, I watch as wolves pile in, some whispering about my wolves stationed at equal intervals around the grounds, some questioning why I am here when I left the pack nearly three years ago. I just keep a stoic smile on my face, Ariven chuckling as he watches the wolves stretch, each breaking into their own cliques. I spy the Hunters that used to make my life a living night mare, wolves I am itching to destroy in a fight. I spy the trackers that ignored my existence, their excuse always being their job is more important than a “Lowly Omega”. I am neutral towards them as they neither joined in my abuse nor stepped into help me. I spy the Omegas, their malnourished bodies still a site to see, one which I know will change under Lace’s rule with time. Seeing Misbah and Lilly again, their skinny bodies still the same as usual but the two hold their heads high with pride.
Chapter 23- A Bond Breaking “Riv, please go away.” I groan out, throwing a pillow at the man’s head as I burry under the warm blankets seeking the cover of darkness and more sleep. It’s been a week since arriving at Hidden Claws, the experience still bitter with the horrid memories from my child hood making fulfilling this request for aid hard. The second request of looking for Soulless adding stress to my already stressful job as I spend nights running around no-mans land outside pack territory to look for evidence of the Soulless caravan and their possible leader. Last night being such a night that left me coming to the guest house at four in the morning and exhausted with the need for sleep. “Come on Gem. You’ve been distant from me with the last few days. I just want to come cuddle with you and talk.” Ariven’s husky voice pleads, his hand finding my hair that he promptly plays with. I want to melt into his touch, allow him to explain his thinking of
Chapter 24 – Alpha Lace “Thank you for making me accept this request.” I whisper to Ariven as we cuddle in bed, the television playing some gaming channel on YouTube that Ariven watches while I doze on his chest, his hands gently rubbing circles on my back. An hour has gone by since the bond broke between Mika and I, pack mates coming to inform me that he is still outside waiting for me to come and talk. For him to apologize for the years of hurt he has given me. I just tell them to make sure that his pack stays away for the wolf to grieve and that no one attacks him. It’s the basic thing I can do for Mika considering our history and lack of animosity he has shown on this trip. “You don’t have to thank me. I tricked and betrayed your trust to get you here.” Ariven answers and I smile, planting a kiss over his heart and snuggling closer to the man below me. This reaction gives me a deep chuckle in response, his own light kiss being placed on my forehead
Chapter 25 – First Attack The familiar howl ends as multiple pare of eyes -red eyes- appear from the forest, the stench of death and decay reaching the ceremony grounds. Days of being in hiding while I search for these Soulless bands and nothing. Now they decide to show on a day that should be meant for celebrating. “Lace link the Omegas and have them and all children and the weak hide in the safe rooms. Mika, call the warriors on duty and make sure they get those out to safety.” I order, rushing to my feet and kicking off the strappy heels that Lace forced me to wear. At least the stilettos will make a great weapon. I watch, the Soulless stumbling in as if their limbs are being controlled like marionettes, waiting for an opening to attack and I see it, the first wolf in the middle is leading the pack, his blood red eyes tinted with black. He is the leader. Taking aim, I throw the first stiletto, happy as the sharp thin heel imbeds itself into the righ
Chapter 26 – Memories “Geminie, are you okay in there?” Ariven’s voice calls out but I stay silent. Sitting on the floor in the bath tub I allow the warm water to fall onto my shivering body from the shower above. I feel cold, not from the warm air but from the fear still coursing through me. All I can think about is my fourteenth birthday, a day that killed the innocence inside me. The water stops and strong arms lift me from my siting position wrapping me in a large soft and fluffy towel and Ariven’s scent fills me. “It’s okay darling. No one can hurt you.” He whispers, his hands slowly rubbing my back. We sit on the bathroom floor, my body shaking while clinging to his now damp shirt, fighting back the tears threatening to spill. Ice blue eyes hunt my mind, eyes that help pleasure and greed inside them. “No one can hurt you Geminie, not with me here.” Ariven reassures, tucking my head under his chin not caring for my dripping hair.
