Amante POV

“You can’t just die, Amante. Stand up and fight.”

“What’s there to fight for? I lost. Allyssa told me so.”

“She doesn’t mean that. She has no one but you for her. Trust me. I was with her the whole time, remember?”

Amaltheo was urging me to fight for my life, the despicable life I was willing to throw away. I could still feel Takif’s webbed hands on my neck. For some reason, his strength seemed to be constant. It didn’t move tighter, and it gives me the impression that he was losing his grip.

Ha! It was his slimy, webbed hands. It was slipping because of his own imperfection. I could see determination in his eyes, yet his facial expression was showing he lacks power to strangulate me. It was not a funny sight, but somehow, there was this side of me that wanted to laugh with amusement.
