Chapter 9

“Mum?” I called from outside when I saw that her room was locked from within.

“Naomi?” She called out to me.

“Yes, mum. It’s me” I answered and immediately, she unlocked her door.

“I was just making sure it was you.” She opened the door wide enough to let me in, then locked it again.

“Are you feeling alright? Why was your door locked?” I asked,

“I'm okay. I just wanted to have a little rest.”

“It's fine.. if you say so. I just wanted to speak to you.” I told her hoping she would listen to me.

“About Lucas’ proposal to marry you?”

“Mum?” I exclaimed. “I'm shocked that you're saying this.” I want to sit on the only couch she has in her very large room. This was the very couch she had with my father before his death, they shared a lot of memories on this same couch as she had told me.

“I didn't say you are going to marry him. I only asked you a question.”
