Chapter 40 - Isis
I can’t believe it. My brother is sitting in my living room. More than that, my brother is sitting in my living room marked as a vampire’s mate!!!! I have many questions, but neither really seems willing to give me detailed answers.
Cliffs Notes are not enough answers. I want to know what the hell happened that landed my brother not only in the company of a Vampire but obviously the bed of one.
I don’t mean that rudely or disrespectfully to Daniela or vampires in general. It’s just that Khalid had his panties in a twist over me and Auntie Sarael having werewolf mates.
And the reason for marking him is it sounds so cold. Is that really how they both see it? Do they not love each other? I’m not very familiar with vampire mating.
But Caleb and Mariana seem to care deeply for each other. So I find it strange to think her sister would so casually take a mate. Maybe she’s just not big on displaying her love.

I still can’t believe someone left a fake scepter in the vault. Someone went through a lot of trouble to do this. The only other person who had access to the vault was the late Alpha John Senior. So unless someone managed to get in before the switch to the fingerprint security was added, he’s the only person that could have moved the scepter. But what reason would he have to move it? While I have no point of reference for Wade, I have one for Noya, and everything that Kurt just described is disgusting. I mean, even bad people have mates and whatever. And I know all too well how intense heat can be. But to lock a child in a basement. All to keep her out of the way for your heat seems a bit much. Couldn’t they have had the girl stay with someone else during Noya’s heat? A child shouldn’t have to be exposed to such things. And obviously, she’s too young to understand what was happening. I hope that despite the lies Noya has been telling this child, she will believe Kurt and me. Hopefully, she’ll trust us when the time comes to get her away from Noya.
