Chapter 38

Rosalie looked at her son and the man with him, and remembered the moment he held her in the path of stones, then the way she patted her fingers on the table.

She took a deep breath and thought she understood that sense of familiarity she felt, she had felt the same.

The woman looked into her daughter’s eyes, and saw how she believed in what Duncan was somehow taking care of.

Rosalie sighed, and thought Duncan really was dead.

Duncan looked at his watch and realized that it was past ten o'clock, as much as he wanted to stay longer, he had to go.

The man got up from the couch and hugged his son, stayed for hours talking and he doubted that the boy had realized the time. But it was time to go.

Rosalie approached to hear the two saying goodbye, she looked at him and accompanied him to the door.

Duncan did not say goodbye to Angelika, who according to Rosalie had already gone to bed, with that information he feared that the girl was avoiding him.
