Chapter 21 – More Than Perfect (Part 4)

Even confused by what he meant by "forced," Missy could only listen, stunned and heartbroken, to everything he had said, absorbing every word as if it were a bundle of thorns passing through her throat. Everything about that situation, the suffering of Tristan Knight, of the whole family, of Logan… it made her feel so helpless and agonized. Her body was tense and at the same time weak, trapped in the anguish of wanting to do something to ease that past suffering, even knowing that he couldn't do anything to remedy what that woman had done. Thus, still in total silence, she remained holding his hand on the steering wheel, until she finally found enough strength within herself to be able to speak again, albeit in a very fragile way.

- Could you tell me more good things about your grandfather? – she asked shyly, anxious to get him to talk about happy things and to wipe those fierce shadows from his expression – Like when he talked to you about playing the piano, maybe?
