Chapter 11

Seth's POV

By the time he left, it was after 10:30 pm. Being with her again was great, but his conscience was eating him alive since he still had to lie to her. Of course, he was aware of her adoption.

But if he told her who he really was, he would never be allowed near her again, let alone hold her in his arms. If he told her he was working for the person responsible for her mother's death, the reason she had been put through all of this, she would never look at him the same.

If he explained himself, he wasn't sure she would ever forgive him for not even using his real name. Then again, he wasn't supposed to love her.

She had ascended. Plain to see just by looking at her. To everyone else, she looked the same, but being closer to her than anyone else, the subtle differences were unmistakable.
