The night ended without any other incidents. Acheki got in his car. Akaisha watched as he put it in gear. “Will you be fine?”
“Yeah, of course. I can pop home without any problems.”
“Still be careful.”
She waved him off. “You’re the one that needs to be careful.”
“I’m the law. I’ll be fine.”
“You know, they say a hard head makes for a soft ass, right?”
He chuckled. “Yeah, I heard. But I have my weapon with me. And I’m not the hard-headed one, Ms. Morningstar.”
She shrugged her shoulders. “Just go home. The sooner you leave, the faster I can go.”
He waved his hand, pulling out of the parking lot. When he turned left, she teleported to her new home. Blue and Misty greeted her. “Are you going to get my bed? It be really nice to sleep on my soft bed.”

She looked around to see her new coworkers scanning their work. Handheld computers were a thing of the past. Holographic screens and the mind took their place. With her empty desk, there was nothing for her to do but settle in. Being a former assistant, Akaisha didn’t have much to bring down with her. Someone came up to her as she stood near the desk.
