Chapter 72

Kai:

I ran my finger over Irina’s shoulder as she slept with her back to me.

She sighed in contentment despite being asleep, and I couldn’t help but smile as I leaned in, kissing her shoulder tenderly.

I had to admit that I didn’t think that she would be a light in my day, but here she was, the brightness of it, my smile, and my beauty.

I kissed her shoulder one more time before getting up from bed. The sun was already rising, and though I knew that it was still early, I couldn’t find myself getting any rest.

I wasn’t bothered though, it was just a fact of me not being able to get any sleep.

I walked to the bathroom to freshen up, and I couldn’t help but find myself frowning when I recalled the way that Cosimo had it in him to not only threaten us the way that he did, but to stand the way that he did, confident and calm, not caring about the consequence that COULD have possibly hit him.
