Caught Up

We were standing out of the mansion, bidding Vanessa and Lorenzo goodbye as they were leaving the island.

“Please take care of yourself, Pen,” Vanessa said while hugging Pen,

“I will, and you both take care of each other and also my Milly and our little Lorenzo here,” she said and everyone chuckled at her words including Nikolai. I glanced at him and noticed him looking at Vanessa, his eyes watching her in admiration.

He never looks at anyone the way he’s looking at Vanessa. I stood there like a statue, watching him, watching her as if she was the only one he ever wanted. It erupted an ache inside my chest, and my breathing heavily.

The look of longing in his eyes was evident, his eyes screamed of want for something forbidden. Looking at him, I was completely taken aback. I wish what I’m seeing in his is not real, it’s just my imagination or something.
