Chapter 20: Losing Faith

Selby held her hand with a firm grip as they crossed the beach to the Crab Shack. As it turned out, it was an actual shack. The rustic walls appeared to be driftwood thrown together haphazardly. Crab traps, nets, and boat paraphernalia decorated the inside, and the tables were, for the most part, a collection of picnic tables with benches. The food, however, was well worth it.

Selby ordered them wine and allowed Faith a couple of glasses to help her unwind. He knew her well and knew the battle that raged within her. What excited her and what she wanted fought against the way her parents raised her, the teachings ingrained in her as to the difference between right and wrong. When Selby entered her life, he shook those viewpoints.

"You don't believe in morals?" she had asked him as he drank an Amber Bock while she sipped sweet tea. They were at a friend's party, and she had made it clear that drinking was evil. He responded by opening a cold bottle.

"Sure I do. I just don't believe they'
