I walked into Zane's room and found him already dressed in his pilot uniform, with his suitcase and duffel bag at the foot of the bed. He was engrossed in typing on his phone, so he didn't immediately acknowledge me when I entered.

Taking a seat on the edge of his bed, I dropped my body down, hands resting on my knees. "Always take care of yourself out there. Don't do anything reckless, okay?" I said, prompting him to finally turn and look at me.

He furrowed his brow. "You're the one who needs to watch out here, especially since you'll be left alone."
