CHAPTER SEVENTY-THREE

Clyde was clutching where the blade of the sword burrowed into him while losing blood. His eyes also landed on Emma's neck, seeing the but marks. “Are you okay?” he croaked despite his pain. He wasn't worried about himself, as he knew it was going to start healing the moment he pulled the sword out of his chest. But, that would be much work, as he needed to break off the tail and pull from the hilt. That was no time for that.

Emma hissed and stepped back when he wanted to reach out to her. “Don't,” she warned.

Clyde swallowed hard. “The night your parents were murdered, I was the barrier between you and Clive killing you. I hauled you over my shoulders and took to flight when he came after you after killing your parents. I'm not sure you remember. But, there were the two of us that night, with me fighting Clive.”

“You're lying, Clyde. All you've done has been nothing but lie and cheat. I rather believe Carrington than you. That way, I know that Carrington wants me for something. But,
