“You walked into the park in boots, Lady.”

She is Mom. I breathed a sigh of relief for a moment if it was Mom. Mom tilted her head and looked at me with a strange look.

“Is there anything wrong?” Mom asked me.

I shook my head and stepped up to him. Worry hit the heart quickly. I suspect something regarding the herbal powder mentioned by Grandma a few seconds ago.

Does Grandma intend to abort the womb? Who is pregnant besides me here?

“Katie? Is there anything wrong?” Mom surprised me once again.

I shook my head once more.

“You’re so weird. Look, your face is so pale.”

“I gasped at your presence, Mom.” I lied.

Mom raised one of her eyebrows. Mom's unconvincedness to me was clear —she doubted my answer. I tried hard to control my emotions so as not to appear to be hiding something.
