Chapter Twenty-Six
Vanessa POV
Shifting I let Athena run to our old spot. Jordan didn’t say really anything, just that he wanted to meet up and I was hopeful he had changed his mind but his voice sounded odd. I knew something was up with him. It took Athena half an hour to reach the lake where we used to hang out. It was like our own private lake, nobody else really came here. It was special to us and us alone. When we got closer to the rock he was sitting on Athena shifted back, allowing me to talk up to him. I tapped his should before sitting down beside him, dangling my legs over the edge.
“Hey, thanks for coming, I really need your help.” He seemed weird which instantly made me nervous.
“Where’s Cassidy? And why do you need my help?”
“Cassidy has been kidnapped…” I stare at him a little shocked and confused.
“Yay! Now he can choose us!” Athena cheers in my head and I snap at her.

Cassidy POVI felt myself coming back up to the veil. Nina either letting me in or letting her guard down. I start to feel the pain she was feeling and I knew something was wrong. Lani led the way through the tunnel, Vanessa was too afraid to go first for fear of cobwebs. It was so dark down here it was hard to see anything. I was thankful we were werewolves and could see in the dark because human eyes couldn’t see what we could, even though that wasn’t much. Cassidy POVI was awoken by a hose spraying wolfsbane at me from below. I cry out in pain as it tears into my skin. Some of it getting into my throat and burning me from the inside as I instinctively swallow. I hear laughter at my pain and I open my eyes for the first time in this room. I’ve been too scared; I didn’t want them to see the fear in my eyes but I couldn’t keep my eyes closed forever. I look around and notice it’s a big concrete warehouse and I was on top of some sort of raised platform made of concrete. The room was brightly lit by heaps of industrial lamps on the roof. There wasn’t much in the room except two cars and the van I assume to have been brought here in, by the one roller door at the end of the building. Jordan POVWe followed the tyre tracks to the end of the dirt road. It led us through winding back trails through the surrounding bushland no pack had claimed. We shifted back when we reached the end of the road, unsure where to go from here as the trail had ended. It was dark out now; the sun had set about an hour ago.“So where now?” Vanessa asks, looking to me for leadership.“The tracks end here so they can’t be far… right?” Lani asks.I bend down and touch the last visible track before looking around. Cassidy POVI could see Jordan was mind-linking with someone. He walked behind me pulling at my ropes before jumping back, the wolfsbane burning his fingers. Good. I thought to myself. It was the least he deserved. I hear a blade slice through the ropes behind me and my legs drop down. They were sore from being spread out and tied behind me for so long. I was grateful to be able to close my legs. I felt the knife cut through the ropes holding my head and for the first time in however long I’ve been trapped here I could move it. He frees my arms last and I collapse on the floor. The weight of my body too heavy for my weakened state.I feel his arms helping me up and I growl at his touch. I let Nina take control as she had more strength than I did. She shifted and it was painful. It felt like the first time again. This time the anger inside was fuelling her.
