Zara’s POV
The hot water running over my head feels so good. I’m so glad to be home. My mind churns, thinking about all the assignments I need to catch up on, but wanders back to my dream with Clotho and Lachesis. Trying to focus on them while in wolf form makes the information they tried to give me murky and muddled.
“Do you remember, Lavender? I know it was my dream, but you were in it. Does that mean you can remember it?” I ask as I brush the tangles out of my hair.
“I know you had a dream, and I had a dream too, but my dream feels like it differed from your dream.” She reminisces about the experience. “I woke up in a maze and there was a monster chasing me, but I was faster than the monster. Time turns into a blur of events. Mom comes in and takes Dad out of the room. When they come back, Dad is no longer covered in blood. Jasper sits next to me and puts his hand on my shoulder while I rock Zara in my lap. Mom tries to tell me something, but I don’t hear what she’s saying. I close my eyes and hold my sweet little mate close to my chest. The noise in the room fades away until all that’s left are Zara’s whimpers. I open my eyes and look around. The sun is almost set. Zara and I are the only ones in the room. People are in other parts of the condo speaking to each other. I look down at my sweet little mate. She’s awake, leaning against me with silent tears streaking down her face. “It’s going to be okay, Pocket.” I kiss her forehead and rub her back. “We will bring her back.” “No.” She shakes her head, looking into the distance. “What do you mean, ‘no’?” I sit her up and make her look at me. “Zara, we can help you.
