Zara’s POV

I should have worked faster. I should have done more research, made more calculations, tested on more animals, and insisted we shorten the testing phases. I could have worked longer hours or asked more people for help. Maybe if I had, Kara would still be here. Katie wouldn’t have spent a week in the hospital. Jasper wouldn’t be depressed and Keller wouldn’t think it’s his fault.

So many unanswered questions that will probably stay that way. The police believe Kara knew the person who assaulted her, because she didn’t fight back. Either that, or she was too drunk and high to fight back. I don’t want to think about it either way. They took fingerprints off the liquor bottles but couldn’t find a match in their databases. They told Jasper, if she had previously worked as a prostitute, her assailant could have been anyone from her past. Katie doesn’t know the last names of the men she calls ‘Kara’s customers’. Chances are, they use fake first names too, so it doesn’t matter. W

The heartache… I’m so so heartbroken about Kara… we feared the worst yes but I was still hoping… maybe there is something about losing her that will somehow help and honor her loss…
