Chapter Eleven

Back stiff and neck aching, I push off the floor to sit back against the door. I am seriously missing the fluffy cloud of a bed behind it. After Hunter took a knife to my heart yesterday, I opted to sleep on the floor rather than next to one of them.

Sometimes I wished you were dead.

Yeah, me too. Wouldn't say I'm suicidal or anything. I wouldn't take a gun to my own head but if someone were to run up to me in the street and put a gun against my forehead I wouldn't beg them not to pull the trigger. I wouldn't do anything really. You're just a ghost with a beating heart.

It's the most accurate way anyone has described me in a long time. I never meant to come back and haunt them but it doesn't make much of a difference. From the looks of this house, it seems I have haunted these walls for longer than I've lived in them.

"Sleep well?" Jeremy gets to his feet from where he slept on the floor a couple of paces away from me. He rubs the back of his neck and cracks it once. Twice.
