"Mr. Griffin," Reese called as they walked inside Axel’s office. "What’s the important thing you want to discuss with me?"

"Why are you in a rush?" He pulled out the visitor’s chair across his desk. "Sit," he urged.

She raised a brow. "Am I safe?"

"What do you mean by that?" he asked, as he walked around the desk and slouched on his swivel chair.

"You have been acting like a perfect gentleman." She inched closer to the chair and sat on it. "It feels too good to be true."

He chuckled softly. "I am just trying to make up for my mistakes."

"Mistakes?" She planted her elbows on the desk and held her chin in her palms, urging him to elaborate.

"Look, Reese." He scratched his temple. "I know I have been a total jerk to you and—"

"Wow!" she exclaimed, cutting him off.

He drew his brows together. "What?"

She had never expected Axel to admit that he was wrong. What he said came as a surprise to her, which was why she exclaimed. But she was not going to ruin the apology he was about to rend
