Mishka’s point of view

I’ve been on my own for most of the day. Mrs Harris went out this morning with the promise of finding Ben and Swift security. I can only pray that she somehow finds him without Dimitri finding out.

I’ve just finished the sandwich she left me for my lunch this morning. I haven't dared to leave the room, though, apart from the occasional toilet break, but that's only to the adjoining bathroom.

It’s been a long and lonely day, and it makes me realise just how much I've begun to rely on Mrs Harris, not just for food and everything else she does but for her company.

I listen to the clock as the seconds tick by. It’s two pm now, and the minutes are dragging on, but at least Dimitri has not been around again, and for that, I am incredibly thankful. My heart drops when the door opens; praying it's not him, I breathe again when I hear Mrs Harris call out,

“It’s only me, Mishka.”
