My lungs and throat were positively on fire. I was burning with a thirst, a desire unlike anything I’d ever felt. In my over four thousand years of existence, it was my experience that there was never anything new, only someone new. This, was all brand new territory for me. Something and someone new.

I’d been invited to a dinner party at Ash Black’s home, the werewolf on the council. Only, I didn’t quite make it inside. Suddenly, a little dinner party was the last thing on my mind. It was selfish, but everyone who knew me was used to that.

I arrived to discover the most intoxicating and alluring scent, and it called to me, it pulled me in a way that damn near ripped me apart. Sure … I knew what wheat smelled like … and I barely recalled the smell of the sun against warm human flesh … but this scent was both things tied to one person, one human.
