Alexander’s hand was still hanging in the air. He looked at her awkwardly at first as he put it down. It did not take long, however, before the sides of his lips slowly rise up. He was starting to feel entertained.
“I can do it, see,” Maya regained her seat and started drinking in silence. She gave the bottle to Alexander, who took a sip as well.
Maya was running as well, struggling with painful shoes and dragging her dress after her.“Where are you going?” she asked him.
While Alexander was busy thinking about his next date, Maya was thinking about her job as well. When Alexander decides to start dating, it meant that her job was done, but she still did not think about her next step. She was too engulfed in the life of the Knights she forgot her own.
Seven years. Maya still felt it was surreal. Thus she kept on looking at the paper for a long time. Probably it won’t sink for a while or even after a couple of days. Maya’s eyes blurred until she ended up crying silly. She was laughing while crying.
Maya forced a smile on her face as she held back a snide response to that. There were head phones next to him, and instead of wearing one to let Maya be, he decided just to be a meanie and stopped her from enjoying herself.‘All right, I will be very understanding towards a petty kid, and I will not be carried away to lose my temper,
If Maya was not closely looking at him, would she even comprehend what he had just said? Maya’s mouth was wide open, and she couldn’t believe what she heard.
Alexander frowned. He pursed his lips, a clear sign that he did not want to talk about it.Maya laugh in his face, “What are you afraid of? All you have to do is answer in simple words to tell us why you don’t like it. To the point that Sicilia needed to almost plead with you for it...” She said, the last few words in a whisper.
Maya, however, remembered how Alexander acted earlier when he talked to the happy woman. She has the urge to shook her head as she felt pity for the woman who obviously hoped so much for the romance, but Alexander clearly does not meet the expectation. However, that pity went away when Stephany did not even greet Maya and treated her as if she were air.
Alexander sat next to Stephany while Maya was next to Pete, both of them wrapped in a blanket, watching the reflection of the sun on the lake. Maya had always loved to look at nature like this. The orphanage where she grew up also has good scenery. Thinking about it made Maya felt nostalgic. She shook her head and decided to just enjoy the view. It was beautiful scenery if it weren’t for the cold. Maya hugged herself, then as she covered herself even more with the blanket. She then kept on blowing on her hands to make them warm.
