ARTEMIS POV

Walking back out onto the hall, I’m still in a trance trying to process what Selena said about my actions having a reaction and hurting Jaxon and Ares. Grabbing onto the moon charm on my charm bracelet I try to focus on my mother, feeling her essence, and I almost had her when Donovan sneaks up behind me and breaks my concentration.

“Hey!” he says.

“I’m sorry,” he says as he walks around to stand in front of me and grabs hold of my hands. “I didn’t mean to scare you. Where were you?”
