Chapter 7: Class 1-A's Mean Girl

WELCOME to Class 1-A of the 11th grade. The best Class in all of the 11th grade class, the best of the best are found here, where all sorts of individuals from different familial and separate backgrounds, different personalities and identities, different persons and different specialties. They all come together for one reason, to see who dominates this arduous and burdensome playground.

Just as what Caspian deduced earlier, gosh is he smart! I certainly did a background check about my new classmates since I have my own reasons. There wasn't much suspicions from the rest of them, but three of them stood out.

Sanji Haru Stuart.

Astra Mielle Alexander.

And last but not the least, Claire Rose Rohas.

These three will bring misfortunes to our class since these three are linked with a certain duty and purpose. All under one organization that brings destruction and transgressions. A gang of shadows that lurks in the dark, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. I could describe them of how wicked they are all day but a day wouldn't be enough. And apparently, she's here.

"Psst, bestie. It's your turn," Oh yeah.

"Adharia Navier V. Valler, a pleasure." Yup. It's not like I still need to give a thorough introduction since I'm pretty sure they all know me. Not that I'm bragging, but it's the truth!

"Oh my gosh! It really is her!"

"Our Class is so lucky! Kyah!"

Yeah, bask in my greatness! "Caspian, go and take the spotlight. Knock 'em dead!" I told Caspian who was seated next to me, he just nodded and winked as he stood up in the center of the room with a captivating smile.

"Hey! I'm Caspian De Leon, Ria's childhood friend. I came from the States, but I'll be in your care from now on!" Oh wow. He's good. With a smile, wave and wink, he captivated the hearts of all the girls in the class. Bravo! Touché ma' friend!

The girls squealed so high that it caused an uproar. Even our Professor, Miss Everest Arlert's heart skipped a beat. Well, what can I say? That's least that you should expect from a character from a novel, he was born to captivate hearts.

"Well done, Cas--"

"HOLD UP! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING?!" Someone yelled and slammed his desk's table loudly. Oops! I forgot about this little detail.

"What? And who are you?" Caspian asked curiously.

"I should be the one asking you that, punk! Suddenly showing up out of nowhere and claiming to be Adharia's childhood friend, that's just bullsh*t! I've known her ever since we were little, and I have no recollection of meeting you! Impostor!" Cryx exclaimed in full throttle.

All aboard the fully fueled train, choo choo!

"Caspian, I'll handle--" He cut me off again?

"No need, Ria. This is between us," is he serious?!

"Of course, I am Ria's one and only childhood friend. I met her when she was 5 during Summer in Japan, we became friends and I became her penpal when I returned to States. We seldomly see each other but I know my Ria better than anyone," Welp! He's really got this in the bag.

"And If you're really her real friend, then where were you when some guy played with her? For your information, I was there to give him a beating and remind him of his place. So don't you think that I'm a fake and a liar, bastard." He whispered but clear enough for me to hear.

Cryx glared at him and gritted his teeth before slamming the table near him and returning to his seat after being pissed off. I'm not gonna ask Caspian how he knew about that guy who toyed with me, but whatever, at least he's got one believable excuse. I bet Mr. Ambroise told him some stories to make it seem like he knows a lot about me.

"That's enough, Class! Let's all settle down. I am Miss Everest Arlert, I had a Phd in English Literature in Alles Lazlo University, I'm currently writing in progress with my latest book. For the past 4 years, I was a brilliant Author of famous novels around the world and that lit a fire in me to share my burning passion with aspiring students like you, thus me being a teacher in this prestigious Academy."

Of course, the teachers in our Academy are not third-rates that you can just get from anywhere, this Academy is of very HIGH caliber. After a fifteen minute declamation of her love for writing, the bell rang and it's finally time to eat.

"Let's get out of here and eat, recess is on me again." Ione offered once again and lead the way, she was yawning a lot, she must be tired.

"Adharia, I need to talk to you." Cryx blocked our way and asked.

"Yeah, sure." I shrugged and told Caspian to go without me since this will take a while, "What is it Cryx? And why the sudden outburst earlier?" I confronted and raised an eye brow at him.

"I-It's just that, is everything he said real? Is he really your childhood friend?"

"Of course he is, I've known him for a long time. Brother even let him stay at our place for the time being until he returns, so yeah," I replied and he was dumbfounded. "Hm.. But how can I be sure he's worthy of being your friend? To be perfectly honest, the Valler family has a lot of aces surrounding them, so what makes him so different?" And there he goes again, the DEFENSIVE MODE.

"You can search him on G****e and I'm pretty sure a lot of things will pique your interest. But if you want the real deal, feel free to get to know him." I said and pulled him to the cafeteria.

Geez. Cryx is really something, I better be cautious about him until the right time that I tell him about Caspian.

Just when I hurried over to the cafeteria, I heard loud yelling coming from a familiar voice which I haven't seen all summer. It was a voice that irritated me. It was a voice that I knew far too well. I then leaned unto the wall and clicked my tongue, I wonder who the sacrificial lamb is this time?

A crowd then gathered and began whispering.

"OH. MY. GOSH! How dare you filthy peasant ruin my shoes?! Literally, this is a custom made Louis Vuitton! Ugh! Your ugly presence is making me so sick that I want to barf, it's utterly disgusting. You low lives should never even be here! This is a school for the elites so why the hell are you no-good third-rate insects even standing in the same floor as me?!"

And there it is. the Queen of Sass strikes again! Can't her temper be so at its peak early in the morning? Jeez! What a hypocrite! I feel bad for the student who has to deal with her constant bullying 'til the end of the school year. Truly, her consistency is remarkable, though in a bad way.

That bully right there is Claire Rose Rohas, the heir of the Rohas group of companies and a total sass bucket. She's the only daughter of Ian Rohas and Yvonne Rohas. And next to her is her ever loyal sidekick and only friend, Astra Mielle Alexander, the heir of Illusion Jewelry Inc. These crime making duo are the school's freak duo who loves to brag their riches and kick ditches. They think they're so on top of the world that everyone is their slave. Pathetic!

Sage Academy is originally a school for the upper class level. For those who can afford it and those who wants to aim high is sent here. But last three years ago, Sage Academy has opened its gates to the public, both average and below average. They can enroll in the school through a scholarship, but, if only they passed the onerous entrance exam. This is so, so that the students who enter this Academy is worthy of higher education and methods, and so that there will be a slight recognition to them from the students from a higher class.

"I-I'm sorry, I d-didn't mean too. P-Please don't h-hit me, I-I'll try to p-pay it. I-I'll do anything you say! P-Please," he pleaded.

Hm? He sounds so desperate, it's making me guilty for some reason. Gosh! The school should have just given an orientation to new students on which students to avoid and to ignore as much as possible! And that girl right there takes the cherry on top.

"Excuse me?! Are you negotiating with me? How ridiculous! You're making me laugh, you filthy insect! You? Pay these?! Ugh! You would have to be reborn a million times before you could be worthy of paying these! You low life, you are nothing, you will always be nothing!"

"Hmph! That's right, you beggars should just lick the floor and beg for mercy if you want to survive." The sidekick enters the chat.jpeg. She pours a cup of cold water on him and laughs at him more.

I mean like, how are they keeping up with this?! And how are their parents just tolerating and even encouraging that kind of behavior?! Oh yeah, they are the original sass buckets. But, I don't want that poor guy to hate his first day of school, so I might as well enter the chat as well. Let's kick some b*tches!

"I suggest you stop that crude behavior right now, Claire."

The crowd stepped out of the way and let me through. Please! Just let the girl through dudes! And please don't make me regret this since I hate attention this much!

"Well, well, well. If it isn't Adharia Valler, the little goody-two-shoes that everyone adores~ How fetch!" Whut? Who says 'fetch' in the 21st century?!

"Seriously? Bullying a student on his first day of school? Have you know shame? Or are you that desperate for attention?" I asked in a slightly irritating tone. I then heard 'Ooohs' and snickers from the crowd as they agreed with me, jeez! I can be sassy if I wanted too!

"Or maybe you just think that you're above everyone else, is that correct?" I added and she lightened up and flipped her hair annoyingly with a smirk. What an annoying little brat!

"Of course! Like, isn't that obvious? Everyone here are nothing but a piece of trash except for me and those I acknowledge. I am the most perfect lady! No one can compare to me. I am beauty, brains and riches, everybody adores me! And you low lives are nothing but amusement in my eyes. I am gold! The epitome of perfection! Like, literally!" She boasted.

Oh my gosh! How do I unsee that?!

Her confidence level is literally 100000000%! Respect, I salute thou confidence level. I'm so embarrassed for her! I feel like I want to cringe so badly and barf right into the bathroom. This is hilarious! It's amazing how she sees herself so differently when everyone around her dislikes her.

"Hate to break it to you, Claire, but I'm afraid not everyone who witnessed your delusion agrees with you. You see, no one is perfect, everyone has their flaws and weaknesses. And honey, those who brag, don't have. If you keep saying how successful, how rich and how awesome your life is, then darling, your insecurity is showing. And what's with that gold metaphor? Don't you know that nothing lasts forever? Gold or no gold, you must always know the difference between being honestly pure gold or just simply gold-plated. You must understand that not everything is set in stone, what you call gold right now is made up of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts." I gave a life lesson I've learned from my Brother.

Maybe she's just being misguided and needs a reality check. I approached the guy sobbing on the ground, I helped him up, took off my jacket and handed it to him. "You can use this since you're soaking wet. And hey, don't mind what she said, she's just begging for attention. Oh, and if this happens again, you can just yell out that she's from an evil cult and run away. That works," I chuckled and he nodded confused.

Yeah, I was just trying to make him laugh. I know, I'm not funny.

"T-Thank you, Miss A-Adharia. I will definitely pay you back," he said and ran to the Infirmary.

I turned around and decided to leave the scene when, "Adharia Valler! How dare you himiliate me in front of all these people! You're gonna pay!" I heard her and I turned around and saw her about to slap me when a familiar figure stepped in and grabbed her hand. The girls then started squealing and giggling and took pictures of his heroic action.

"Miss, please refrain from using violence as the solution," he beamed with a smile that wins the ladies hearts. All aboard the Caspian harem! Choo choo!

"W-Who are you?" Claire asked.

"My name is Caspian De Leon, MY Ria's childhood friend. And I would definitely dislike you if you lay a finger on MY dear Ria," Whut? What's with the emphasized use of 'MY'? Since when was I his possession?!

"Ria? You mean that brat?!" Astra exclaimed and pointed at me.

"Correct," the two girls clenched their fists and glared at me as if they were gonna eat me alive! Why am I always the center of attention, just why?! I just want world peace!!

"Hold up right there buddy, I can't let you take all the credit here. Are you alright, Navier?"

It was Cryx. You know, the guy that rhymes with bricks? Yeah, I'm not funny.

"Leander, it has already been taken care of." Caspian says.

"Yeah, everything turned okay when I entered the scene, okay?" Whut?

"You mean when I swooped in to save Ria from that girl's claws? Yeah, you're welcome."

"And you mean when you stole all the chicks with that freakin' smile of yours?! Yeah, I d*mn you!"

What are they even fighting about?!

"Stole all the.. chicks?" Oops! Now I've got to save Caspian. "Yeah, nevermind him Caspian. Let's just eat," we sat at our table and Ione carried two trays filled with food.

"So.. what did I miss?"

"Everything." Cryx and Caspian said in chorus and looked at each other. Eew! It looks so gay!

"Hold it right there Ione, did you forget that you're not allowed to drink Coke?" I reminded and snatched the bottle away from her, "Yeah, we don't want you getting drunk again." Cryx rolled his eyes.

"Is there any properties in this Coke that makes one person drunk?" Caspian asked hypothetically.

I laughed. "Scientifically speaking, nope! Honestly, we don't know why she gets drunk on something like Coke, but she always does! And it's even funnier to see her drunk since she acts like a detective-wannabe." I recalled.

Last time she drank Coke was last May, after our Recognition. There was a celebratory party after the ceremony and we just left Ione for a little while in the drinks section and when we returned, she got herself drunk from the Coke and was holding a magnifying glass. Like, where did she get that? She soon snooped around the bathrooms and under the table searching for a mystery that is never going to happen.

"Is she.. okay?"

Yeah, I'm asking that myself too.

"Yeah, should we call a MEANtal Doctor as well?" Cryx added sarcastically and chuckled as well.

"You're not funny Cryx, accept it." I shrugged and he pouted.

"Guys! I have a joke for you," Ione beamed.

"Please, don't," gosh! This is gonna be so corny and she's not even 'that' funny!

"Sure, go ahead." Poor Caspian who's not aware of her disease, hehe.

"Aww! Finally, someone who understands me! Okay, what kind of tea makes it hard to swallow?" She giggled and shook Cryx's shoulders hysterically. No! Please stop! "I don't know. Is it Pu'er tea because it's POOR quality?" Oh crap! We have another joker card!

"HAHAHHA That's funny, but that's not the answer. It's called Reali-TEA. Because accepting reality is so hard! Like, when your crush doesn't like you back or when you found a dollar but it's already torn in two! HAHAHAHA Like, reality check! HAHAHA!"

And there she is, I am so done with this girl!

"Dude, you shouldn't have encouraged her. We're done for," Cryx whispered and I nodded vigorously. "That's right, it's best to keep her quiet. She becomes crazy when she gets started," I added and shook my head.

"I see, and you guys are right."

After our orders arrived, we ate them and went on with our next classes. It was still an orientation from each class and the teachers gave their stories, some even revealed their love stories which riled up the other students and listened very intently. Caspian was new to all of this so it looked like he was very interested and was very absorbed in each class.

The new students are way too comfortable and I'd hate to be the one to break it to them, but the school's 'nether regions' or should I say the minefield will begin bright and early tomorrow. The former students right now are friendly and very open to the others, but that's their strategy to bring them down once classes starts. No one is safe when the 'Masquerade of Mudslinging' begins. Our classmates would do anything to make sure they become number 1 (though, that never happens since no one can pull me down from my throne, haha!) or close to my spot at least.

Sage Academy students' minds are set to destruction when class begins. Sure, you can befriend them but I advice you to not get too attached or you might feel betrayed when that happens. And when I said earlier that this is a minefield? It's the literal meaning, not a metaphor.

So yeah, welcome to Class 1-A. I hope you survive.
