The next few weeks were hectic, with too many softball games to count, but winning the State Championship was worth it to Claire and her team. She also had more training and school. Claire had to focus on finishing the school year strong, preparing for the last game of the season, and graduation. Sitting at her desk, she was finishing some last-minute details on a school project before she called it a night, when a message popped up. Despite her attempts at being strong, it felt like a vice gripped her heart when Mal’s name displayed on her screen. Mal: “Working late tonight, Little One?” Claire smiled and rolled her eyes. She hadn’t necessarily been ignoring Mal over the last few weeks. She was just busy with other things. “Claire….dude...don’t freak out...but Trevor is here…” Quinn glared at Trevor kissing his girlfriend, Jennifer. Claire turned her head to the visitors’ dugout and saw Trevor full on making out with the chick. Now normally this wouldn’t affect Claire any, but Jennifer was also the Captain of their rival softball team, the Blue Devils. She needed to focus on the game, but Claire knew it was going to be hard since her heart started pounding knowing Mal was here. She took a few gulps of water, hoping that her heart would calm down before she had to take the field again. Claire was 5th in the batting lineup, so hopefully the girls could kill it and she would have time to take off her gear before she had to bat. Her wish was granted.
