It's your decision

Ray's POV

How did things get so bad? One moment, I was showing my mother how fast I was with the knife, and the next moment, we were fighting off a group that came upon us unawares.

Just like the others in the village, I fought the beast of men, but wasn't able to save any.

Instead, to save me, my mother had to die.

And that's why I'm still alive, gazing into the eyes of the man who wiped my village.

His black hair and green eyes made him seem more human than he is.

“Bring her with you. We are taking her home.” The man said to the other man who brought me out of my hiding place.

I can't tell how he found me, but he did.

“Why? Isn't it—”

“Are you questioning my authority?” The other man narrowed his eyes at the one who brought me out.

“No, master.” He bent and made to scoop me up from the ground I was sitting on.

“Let me go!” I tried to fight the man, but I was too weak.

The fight earlier took all my strength with it. Now, I feel more like a shell of my former self.
