I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I would love to read your comments.
I smiled, “Thank you. My little sisters are definitely the best. I am supposed to have my four female warriors with me in the office. They are under the king’s order to keep everything I tell you confidential.” She smiled, “I am under the same order too. It’s good to know all this. Shall we get down to why you are here?” I nodded and my mom smiled, “You go ahead. I will be here with the girls when you get out.” I nodded, “Thank you. I’ll be back as soon as possible” I walked into the office and it didn’t look anything like what I had imagined. As soon as I walked in, I saw a desk with a chair across from it. I turned to the right and found a huge, puffy sectional couch with tons of throw pillows scattered all around it. I looked to the left and there were several of the giant bean bag chairs for adults. Those looked like fun. I made a note to look for one of those for my room as Carrie Roberts asked, “Is it not what you expected?” I laughed, “Not really. I was just expecting a couple o
Micah’s POV After mom’s appointment, the mom and our sisters went to the counsellor’s office and our dad took my brothers and me to his office in the castle and we met with grandpa. Dad explained to King Parker, “Dad, Adele received a text this morning from an unknown number, so she asked Micah to open it.” I then growled, “I took her phone from her and brought it to dad. I was beyond livid. It was a picture of a dead woman with ‘You will be mine’ carved into her back. Then another picture of the front of her that said ‘submit’.” Grandpa growled, “What are we going to do about it?” Dad explained, “We started a text conversation with him. We told him that she will never submit, but we were acting like her. He has asked her to go out with him and we have set up a meeting place. We told him that she won’t let him mark her until she can trust him. He offered a date tonight so that she can get to know him. We told him we would meet him this afternoon at a public place and we wouldn’t go an
Bridget POV I saw Dune get out of his vehicle and I made the phone call to Prince Luke. I put my phone on the table after locking the screen. I had my earbuds in, so as soon as he sat down, I made sure he saw me take one out, “What do you want?” He smiled, “You already know what I want, Adele. You are my mate.” He reached out to try to touch my face, but I backed out of his reach, “You are not touching me until I know, for a fact, that you are my mate. So far, I’m not convinced. You’ve already obliterated my trust in you.” He growled, “A lot of that wouldn’t have had to happen if you had let me mark you.” I shook my head, “You see, that’s where we think differently. My actual mate would have never thought about trying to hurt me. My real mate wouldn’t have even thought about locking me in a room. So, you see where I’m going with this.” Dune looked at me with a blank expression, “You will see. I am your mate. But, if you want to trust me before I mark you, so be it. Let’s have dinner.
Adele POV When I walked out of Carrie’s office, my mom looked like she was ready to kill Carrie after she saw me. Apparently, it’s not a good idea for my mother to be waiting in the waiting room after I have had a particularly tearful therapy session. She jumped out of her seat, “What did you do to my baby?” I laughed, “Chill out, mom. Your baby needs to do some screaming and crying to get over the shit she’s been through. This won’t be the last time I come out looking like this, either. So, you will need to either get used to it or don’t be here when I come out. I don’t have to go outside this castle to get back to our wing. I can do it with my bodyguards.” Mom nodded, “I get it. I will get out of mom mode during and after therapy sessions.” We scheduled next week’s therapy session, then we walked back to our wing of the castle. When we reached the main area of the castle, Grandma Zara ran to me and wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug, “Oh, my sweet Adele! How are you?” I smil
We all stayed in our wing of the castle that night, with Bridget getting her own room. I gave her a set of my pajamas, just in case he appears in her room in the middle of the night. They have my scent on them as I had held them against my neck. I wanted to make sure she would definitely be mistaken for me. She recognized the reason for this right away and chuckled, “You may not have any scent left by the time we get him.” I laughed, “I doubt that.” We said goodnight and I went to bed. After a night full of nightmares, night terrors, and sitting up against my headboard, rocking myself while hugging my pillow. I finally decided to get out of bed and get a cup of coffee. Leaving the lights off in the living room, I sat in the chaise lounge next to the window and stared outside with my cup in hand. I was trying to get my head straight before everyone got up for the day. I was able to sit there and get two cups of coffee in my system before mom got out of bed. She filled a cup with coffee
We went home that day, after Lizzy and Emily came back from school. The castle had arranged for me and Bridget to have identical cars. Since she already had a black Corvette, I received one exactly like it. I smiled widely at the car and hugged Bridget. She asked, “What was that for?” I laughed, “For not owning a station wagon!” Everyone around us laughed as Bridget and I got in our cars, laughing all the way home. As she followed me home, she was taking note of how to get there from town all the way while I was trying to take it slow enough for her to be able to remember the way we were going. When we got home, I suggested she use my closet to put her clothes in so that my scent will be on everything she wears. I sighed, “I know it’s a bit creepy right now, but we are dealing with a really creepy guy.” She agreed, “Tell me about it. There are so many things that he does that we have to watch out for. Don’t let him touch me, don’t turn my back on him, and the list goes on and on.” I l
Later that night we were all sitting in the living room, joking around when Bridget’s phone dinged. I looked at her and she stiffened, “That’s my ‘Adele’ phone.” She unlocked the screen and gasped as she handed it to Micah. Micah’s face turned bright red and his jaw clenched as he handed it to dad. Dad looked at it and growled, “Boys, Bridget, let’s get to the conference room.” I stood up and dad growled, “I don’t want you in there yet, sweetie. I know you want to know what’s going on and we will tell you. Just not right this moment. We need to work through the anger first. We can’t add your emotions to the already volatile mix right now.” I nodded, “Okay, dad. I trust you guys.” I moved to sit next to mom and put my head on her shoulder, “When is it going to end?” She sighed, “Trust me, baby girl, they’re working on trying to end it as quickly as they can. I’m starting to think we need to call in the alliance. I keep getting a feeling that all of this is just a distraction for somethi
It was funny, to me, that Micah chose that exact moment to knock on my bedroom door. I opened the door and Micah’s hair was messed up like he had been running his hands through his hair. I asked, “What has you so wound up?” He let out an exasperated breath, “We are calling in the alliance. Bridget, I need you to use your ‘Adele’ phone to cancel your lunch date with Dune.” Bridget immediately picked up the phone and texted Dune, “I’m going to have to cancel our lunch today. Maybe another time.” Then she asked Micah, “Should I say anything about the dark warriors outside our house?” Micah looked at me, “Well, sis, what would you do?” Bridget got a text from Dune, “Why?” Bridget asked, “Adele, he’s asking why. What should I tell him?” I responded, “Tell him I’m not leaving my house with his buddies hanging out around my house and watching me for him.” She texted, “I’m not leaving my house with your pets hanging around, watching my every move.” Bridget read her reply to us and I laughed as
