Chapter 7

I got out of bed and looked in my closet. I found outfits of all kinds, but none that really appealed to me. I’m not a dress kind of girl and the closet only contained the skimpy dresses that are very short with super low necklines or cut-outs so big there is very little holding the top and bottom together. I went to the dresser and looked through it. I found a pair of leggings, and over-sized t shirt, then found a pair of socks, a bra and underwear. I took the clothes to the bathroom, locked the door and searched the bathroom for cameras. I found one over the toilet, took it down and smashed it after flipping him the bird. While I was in the shower, I heard the doorknob to the bathroom turn, but he found that I had locked it.

After my shower was done, I got dressed, brushed my teeth and brushed out my hair. When I walked out of the bathroom, Dune was sitting his grimy ass on my bed. I threw his shirt at him, “I do not consider any of those clothes in that closet something I would wear. I would also highly recommend you remove all of the cameras and listening devices in this room.” Dune’s face drained of color, “How did you know?” I shook my head, “I have a tendency to be hyper-aware of my surroundings. Especially in new places. If this is your way of earning my trust, you are way off base. My trust actually went the other direction. I am not the type of girl who will just trust what any man will tell her. My brothers made sure of that.” Dune sighed, “I will have them removed today.” I raised an eyebrow at him, “So no lame explanations about why the cameras were there?” He shrugged, “I figured the one in the bathroom would have been explanation enough.” I shivered in disgust, “There is no need to be a creep. If we are really mates, you will see it for yourself. If we aren’t, then you will have convinced me that you are just as much the creep I thought you were.” Dune laughed, “Why are you still doubting the mate bond?” I replied, “I told you. I refuse to just jump into bed and let you mark and mate me at the first mention of the word mate. I’m not a trusting person. I don’t ever remember being one. Speaking of which, can I use your phone? I would like to call my brother and make sure he knows I’m okay.” Dune shook his head, “Not a chance. Not until you let me mark and mate you.” I sighed, “Then get the hell out of my room.”

Dune stood, “Why? Why do you want to call your brother?” I put my hands on my hips, “Because they need to know I’m safe! I’m really close to my family. I call my parents nightly. I’ve already missed one night. Plus, I had final exams today. My brothers know that I would not have missed that if I were not forced. I can guarantee that the wolf pack is already looking for me.” He smiled, “I can’t imagine them finding you here.” I asked, “What is the issue with them finding me? If you were really my mate you would want nothing more than to see me happy. My family makes me happy.” He replies, “I want us marked and mated before I meet any of your family.” I eyed him suspiciously, “Get out of my room. I have no desire to even be around you.”

Dune stood and started to put his hand on the side of my face. I dodged his hand and pointed to the door, “Leave!” Singarti smiled in my head, “Good job on dodging that hand. That’s how he put you to sleep last night.” Dune replied, “So you aren’t even going to let me touch you?” I shook my head, “Not a chance in hell. Not until you prove to me that this a real mate bond and I can trust you. Now leave and send someone in to get your cameras and listening devices out of here.” Dune responded, “Would you please go for a walk with me later? Let me show you this is a real mate bond.” I laughed, “If this were a real bond, you wouldn’t even have to try to show me that it’s real. You are a werebear. How the hell do you not know how the mate bond works?” Singarti answered for him, “His bear wants nothing to do with him.” Dune turned red with anger, “Listen. You are mine. I will not let you go anywhere. You have forty-eight hours to get your head around that.” I sneered, “Not going to happen at all.” He stood at the door and tried to touch my face again and I dodged it again, “Try to touch me again and I will break your hand.”

He walked out and I shut the door. I looked at the door and Singarti growled, “He has a key to our room.” I nodded, “He does. We need to figure out a way to keep him from coming in. Is there a way for us to form a crevasse without him seeing it?” She replied, “No, I can’t.” Then, finally, my bear, Willow, spoke, “I think I know something we can do. What about a small tornado at the door? It’s invisible to the naked eye. If there is a threat, the tornado will expand and sweep the threat out of the room.” I smiled, “What about laying a sheet of ice at the door? Can we do that?” Willow grinned, “We can. What if we do both together?” I smiled, “That’s a really good idea. Let’s do those.” I tried to find quadruplet link in my mind and yelled, in my mind, “Micah!” There was nothing. I have no idea where we are. I guess I should see if I can get him to slip up and tell me where I am. I sat in my room for hours trying to figure out a way to find out where we are. Finally, Singarti sighed, “Adele! You need to remember who you are. You are not only a Werebear Princess, but you are also a Lycan Princess. Do you honestly think that your family will let you go long without bringing in the multi-species alliance?” I smiled to myself, “I almost forgot about them.”

The Alliance is something my grandma Abby started before she was even pregnant with my Uncle Nico and Grandma Ashina. It’s an alliance between the werewolf species and almost every other species known. It started with White Witches and Dragons. Now it also includes Demons, Angels, Weresnakes, Weregators, Werecats, Werebears, Werehawks, Fairies, Fae, Mermaids, Centaurs, and now Dark Witches. It’s a huge alliance that has resulted in mixed species mates and their children, hybrids. Members of the alliance help one another in times of crisis or war. The alliance was involved in a huge war that resulted in my mom losing almost all of one of her kidneys. It was a terrible war that started with a big group of hunters, then rogues. The entire alliance fought in that war. All non-fighters in our realm were actually evacuated to the Fae realm. There have been lots of times that the alliance has been used throughout the generations since it was started. New species are being added all the time. It is actually the Moon Goddess’ plan all along.

I try to find the family link and a link to one of my parents.  I yell, in my head, “Dad!” I hear nothing in reply. I ask Willow, “Are we under a spell that keep us from linking anyone? It feels like there is something blocking it.” She replied, “There was another herb in your breakfast.” I asked, “What herb?” She replied, “There was a small amount of wolfsbane in the gravy too.” I growled, “Willow, you are now in charge of keeping me from wolfsbane.” She replied, “You got it, lady.”

I sighed, “Now, I just need to keep trying the link.”
