"Lady Zaina," The knight answered, his face not showing much expression. However, he saw the evident surprise on Eldrick's face, and he wondered if he had spoken anything wrong. To add more to his confusion, Eldrick started to laugh out loud as though he had heard something hilarious.
Even Talay seemed to be amused and was grinning. Only the knight did not understand what was happening, and he did not know what to do on seeing the two men smiling happily. "Milord," He started hoping to find out what had happened.
"Kind Sir, do inform your Commander that I will definitely help him. I'll assist Lady Zaina escape from the marriage as well as from Hollis. Also," Eldrick retrieved a parchment from the cupboard behind him and wrote something on it, before folding it and placing it in an envelope. "Could you please hand this letter to Lady Zaina personally?"
Although the knight could not comprehend what was happening, he still agreed to follow his orders. He had known
“What did Commander Kristoff want from you, Milord?” Raelynn darted a look at Miranda who seemed visibly shaken by the information. Pitying the girl, Raelynn faced her brother only to see him hide his smile. ‘Why is my brother smiling? Is he trying to trick me?’ She wondered and looked at Talay only to see him staring at Miranda. She could not fathom what his feelings were with the way he was gazing at the girl intensely. So, Raelynn turned to her brother for questions.“Is everything fine, Milord?” Raelynn narrowed her eyes, not missing the hint of amusement on his face. The next second, she realized that the man was jesting her and she rolled her eyes.“Commander Kristoff has asked me for a favor,” Eldrick answered, his eyes fixed on Miranda. “He wants me to help some escape from the kingdom
“Younger brother?” Eldrick blinked in confusion when he heard Miranda's feeble voice. “Why didn’t I know about Zaina’s brother?” He narrowed his eyes at the girl who, instantly, cowered seeing the Lord’scowl. She could not comprehend his expression, especially when the man had his lips pursed and face serious. Raelynn noticed Miranda’s terrified eyes and she coughed, trying to gain her brother’s attention and the man turned to her at once, getting her signal. She shook her head, pointing her head at the girl and Eldrick immediately softened his gaze. “Lady, I apologize for scaring you. It was not my intention to do so.” Eldrick closed his eyes trying to calm himself down. “I was surprised to know that Lady Zaina has a younger brother. I never knew about him.”
“Milord, I know where the Lady’s brother is. I have met him when I was on my mission.” Talay revealed without blinking, his brain tried to recollect the boy he had met while he was escaping from the prison. Although the lad was not young, he was not old enough to experience the torture which Talay was all too familiar with. He had stayed in Hollis for two months and had endured Dimitri’s torture, which would describe as soul tormenting. No man would make it out alive from the place once they got caught by Dimitri or his men. Talay had been blessed to have escaped from there, fortunately for the weak guards who were outside his cell.“Did you meet the boy? Did you talk to him? How
Meanwhile, on the side of the palace, Raelynn and Miranda walked slowly as they took a tour of the place. Although Raelynn tried to cheer the girl beside her, she could see her slipping in and out of her deep thoughts, every now and then. She was still apprehensive about things and her eyes were red from her tears. Raelynn knew nothing she said or did would reduce the tension, but she could not allow the girl to worry about the matters either. Her brother would take care of everything peacefully. Zaina and her brother would be safe and Eldrick would take care of Dimitri once and for all.
“Lady Miranda, you cannot leave Volar.”Talay approached the two women with a stern face. He heard everything Miranda had uttered a few seconds ago and his heart had jumped in fear on realizing that she would be leaving soon. Talay was not ready for her departure, not yet. He had no idea what he was feeling right now, but he did not want her to leave. He wanted to know her more and find out about her. Although he was not sure, he had a nagging feeling that she was the one his heart craved for.Miranda frowned in confusion and blinked at him. “Why, S
“Knight Commander Laurier has sent you a letter and it needs your immediate attention.” Raelynn took the letter from the knight and stepped aside from the group after giving a curt nod to Talay. Her expression had turned serious as soon as she had noticed the knight as it was unusual to receive a letter from Laurier, especially when he knew that she would be returning that day. ‘Unless…,” Raelynn thought in her mind and swiftly went through the contents of the letters. Although Raelynn had stepped away from them, Talay had kept an eye
Immediately after meeting the Lord, Raelynn left towards her battalion. Although Knight Commander Laurier was taking care of the matters in the East Battalion, it was her responsibility to look over the issues and solve them. Raelynn rode her horse as swift as she could, her eyes blazing with fire as she closed in towards her destination. ‘I cannot allow any more men to become victims of Dimitri’s schemes. I need to come up with a plan to find out who the spies are.’ Raelynn thought as she passed by the gates of the arena. The knights, who were pr
“Sir Warren, can you get me some cayenne powder? It’s time to make the punishment more interesting and agonizing; interesting for us, agonizing for them.” Raelynn requested politely, making sure to lower her voice. Only the three men could hear her; Raelynn made sure to keep her victims in the dark. It was a surprise for them for not cooperating with her. Although she was the Commander of the battalion, the two men beside Laurier was more capable and experienced than her. She respected them, without putting an air of arrogance in front of them. And just like Laurier, the two men too were not dejected to be led by a woman. Although at first, they were apprehensive and dubious about her skills
