The offer sounded both crazy and tempting enough that I thought about it for a few seconds in my head. But I've spent most of my life on the run. I also don't want Alex to leave his Pack life and our family just to run off with me.

"You're still drunk," I muttered, pulling the corners of my lips down. Alex smiled lazily again and kissed my lips briefly before collapsing next to me with his eyes closed. The silence returned to my room until I thought he was asleep. But when I turned my body to look at him, his brown eyes stared back at me in the dim light of my room.

My gaze traced the straight, defined features of his face, then the dark beard that covered his usually clean jawline. This past month must have felt like hell for Alex. Every time I remember what He has sacrificed for me so far it makes my chest feel tight.

"I love you" I whispered suddenly without being able to stop. Mate or not I will still love him until the end of my life, that realization just appeared in me. To hell
