Gabriel's eyes slightly lit up when he heard my accusation. Shaking his head he answered me. "What makes you think like that, Cara?"

My jaw twitched in anger, but I still tried to restrain myself so that my Leykan power wouldn't be detected by him. "It seems you are someone who cares deeply about your image. Surely catching your father's killer wrong and then detaining an innocent person would tarnish the reputation you have worked so hard to build."

Gabriel laughed, whether he was laughing to cover up his true feelings or he was genuinely amused. "Then it seems my reputation must look pretty bad in your eyes right now."

"I don't want to joke," I muttered curtly.

He cleared his throat and smiled again. "Sorry, I was really rude. But it seems you underestimate me, Cara. Don't you believe my promise as an Alpha?"

"How can I trust you? You did say you wanted to negotiate but right now you're leaving me no choice but to accept the offer" I quipped in a low, sharp voice.
