"He's- He's talking to me," I said in confusion.

Alex frowned, his expression still tense.

"What?"

I still looked at him with a surprised face.

The wolf just now seemed to be communicating with me."

Alex removed his hands from my shoulders, with the same expression as before. He looked towards the forest. "Do you think it was Vincent?" he asked in a near whisper. "Only fellow Lycans can communicate, and I didn't notice it coming into this territory until I heard its howling."

We both fell silent, trying to hear any sounds that might come from the forest. Jake, Luca, and Alpha Sam are chasing the wolf ... they should be able to surround him easily.

"Was that really Vincent just now?" I asked in a tight voice.

"I don't know, I can't smell anything from this close" Alex replied. "I hope it is Vincent."
