Somehow the dinner had come and gone without a hiccup. Or someone decapitated and on the floor. Even my parents had behaved themselves, although I had heard them fighting in the hall later on. Julian had apologized, or that was what I had gathered, seeing as mother and Caspian had gone back to their shared room with father. Trouble in paradise, if only I was a fly on that wall.

Gladice had woken me up, as usual, with my breakfast. Bacon, eggs and toast. The aroma wafted into my nose and I dug in. The old woman sauntered into my closet, picking a rather beautiful pale yellow sundress for me. I lifted my eyebrow, but she simply set it on the end of the bed.

"Your mother said that you have to dress nicely. You are meeting with the designers of your dress today and first impressions matter." Gladice explained and shuffled to my dresser, placing silver shoes beside it.
