Chapter 29: Hybrids Natural Attraction

"I'm not pretty, so don't do that," she replied with a venomous undertone. But just a moment later, she watched as the man's eyebrows rose in astonishment, his face taking on an almost hurt expression. He shook his head slowly. "Why do you say something like that?" he then asked quietly and Jade felt her blush more intensely.

"I'm not interested in cheap pick-ups," she said then and turned away.

Magnus was silent and for a moment Jade thought he was about to get up. And a large part of her welcomed this development, although she couldn't deny that other parts wished he wasn't giving up so easily. Not as fast as most did. But the moment passed and Magnus Jordan made no move to get up. On the contrary, Moonlight Jade saw out of the corner of her eye that he was drinking his glass raised it to his lips again, and took several more sips.
