Chapter 18

Tala Hill

I slowly opened my eyes. I could not see where I was. There was just a faint light in the room I was in. I was still groggy as if something hit my head hard. When I finally opened my eyes, I got up quickly because of what I saw. I was inside of some kind of a barrier. Even though I was not an expert when it comes to magic, I knew instantly that it was made of powerful magic. I scanned the room. I still feel groggy.

I remembered what happened and how I got here. But only one thing clearly entered my mind. Mayari was gone. I held my head, I’m having a headache. My sister was taken and I did not even do anything to stop him. I closed my eyes again and did everything to try to contact Mayari through telepathy. But no matter how much I racked my brain, I still could not communicate with Mayari. I also wonder why she doesn’t try to talk to me either. I could only think of one possible reason. She was also probably unconscious.

“I can’t do this, Maya. Please come back,” I pleaded.
