Chapter Nineteen (Dane’s POV) Decades before…

“I am a messenger!”

“You took the wrong job!” I thundered, the mountains shook and shimmers of sand sprinkled over us. Saraya’s fear was palpable so was the Djinns’.

“I had no choice!”

“When next you have a chance to breathe air into your fucking lungs again! Ask questions!” I gritted with clenched teeth and said the last part with my hand aflame. It cried out withering in pain.

“Don’t kill it. We could use it!” Saraya said. I ignored her. I was too enraged to think and I have no idea why I would need a Djinn. I heard Saraya whisper and I knew it was an incantation, I jerked blazing eyes at her and she quickly shut her eyes and continued to mutter. Soon enough I was clenching nothing but air. I growled out loud and she used both of her hands to cover her ears.

“I was going to kill that!” I snarled.

“Calm down please we need it. I will explain when you are calm,” she whispered fervently. I took steady breaths and the scent of blood assailed me. Lowering my gaze, I saw that my
