Babe
*Babe, wake up*
I slightly opened my eyes at the sudden mention of my name. My head pounded as I tried sitting up and I was forced to lie down again.
"Babe, come on, it's Hunter's birthday,"
Katie nagged and I was forced to open my eyes sharply.
I'd totally forgotten his birthday was today, a Saturday, and exactly a day after Liam's birthday. I promise that I didn't drink a sip of alcohol last night but I was up all night and we only had the chance to sleep around five am when we got back to Hunter's place.
We slept off almost as soon as we got here.
"Stop screaming, Katie. I swear I can hear
Babe's POV"...... Will you let me?" Hunter asked, staring at me with so much passion in his eyes."Friends don't look at friends that way," I joked referring to his intense look."Sometimes, they do," He whispered. I smiled."I have a male best friend and I don't think I need one more right now, you guys tend to be super overprotective,""Tell me about this male best friend of yours," he demanded."His name is Fred and we've been friends since I was twelve""Does he like you?""Yeah,"He raise
Babe's POV"This mate thing is more complicated than what you think" my aunt explained."No! I don't care about the mate thing. I care about the responsibility that my father had towards my mother and me which he neglected because he found his mate," I replied with a raised voice.I swear I didn't mean to scream, but it was necessary."Your mother was okay with it, Babara"Tears bolted out of my eyes. "No! She wasn't okay with it. Y'all thought she was fine with it but she wasn't. Do you know how I know? That's because I was the one at the receiving end of her brokenness. She drank herself to death's door every night after we left here. For months, my mother didn't know how I survived. You also want to know why sh
Hunter's POVJust like Barbara had said, the darkest hour began on Monday morning and it took a while before the darkness disappeared from the sky above Paradise Creek'.Barbara and I went to school together that morning after I'd picked her up from school. Her cousin, Pinky was also resuming school as she was fully recovering. We met Liam and Hera at their locker talking about some random stupid stuff and Babe joined in.My phone beeped and I brought it out from my pocket to see it was a message from Stanley."The boys are dead," It was simple yet informative and deadly. The last time I visited both boys at the hospital, one was recovering already and a glint of hope had lightened in f
Babe's POV"I'm getting scared right now," Ivy confessed mid lunch. I was sitting with Pinky, Tommy, and Hera at the cafeteria on a seat close to the door and far from everyone.Hunter and I had gone to the admission office to change the schedule and make each of our classes the same. I wasn't surprised when the woman didn't question our decision or refuse to fix it to what we wanted but what I was surprised about was how Liam walked in with the same request. At the end of the day, the seven of us, Hunter, Hera, Liam, Ivy, Pinky, Tommy, and I all had the same schedule irrespective of what we wanted to study in college. When I asked Ivy if her mom would be comfortable with the arrangement, she told me her mom doesn't have a choice if her survival was o
Babe's POV"Hunter, where are we going?" I asked for the umpteenth time and he ignored me as usual."Hunter," I yelled again. After he carried me out of the cafeteria, he placed me on my feet, held my hand, and began dragging me away till we were out of school."Hunter," I screamed and removed my hand forcefully from him."What's going on? Why was Zion coming at me?" I asked angrily as tears came out of my eyes.Hunter ran his hand through his hair and pulled me into his body. He held on tight and my tears increased. It was getting tiring.Too tiring.
Hunter's POVLeaving Babe was the hardest thing I'd done in my whole existence. I thought letting go of mama and Zion was hard but watching her walk away without a clue of what could happen next was daunting.I ignited the car and drove off to our house. I haven't picked up my parent’s call since yesterday. I was trying to avoid the topic with them. I'd rather waste time than face them to talk about something that I don't want to talk about.I already texted Katie to bring my clothes to the backyard. I'll take it from her and leave. My phone started ringing almost immediately I got to the front of the house."Hunter," Katie cried out.
Babe's POV"Are you sure you can still wait for him?" Pinky asked me the umpteenth time. When she had first asked me, I was a hundred percent sure that I could wait for him but now I wasn't even sure of what my answer should be."I don't know Pinky," I replied, truthfully."I think we should leave. It's twenty minutes past school time" She told me as she checked her watch.Pinky had decided to wait for me after I told her Hunter was coming to pick me up. She felt I shouldn't stay alone and she also didn't want to go alone. It would've been better if we both went together with Hunter."Let me call him once more," I asked and brought out from phone from my trouser's back pocket.
HUNTER'S POV Shit! I messed up! Those were the words that left my mouth as soon as I got to Babe's house and realized she had gone to school. I'd made her promise to wait for me and still, I was the one who ended up disappointing her. I asked one of their maids and she told me Babe and her cousin just left the house. Hurriedly, I entered the car and drove off to school. I knew I was driving too fast but I hoped I met her in school before it was too late. I might not have the chance to apologize if she had entered the class and I don't think I have the patience to wait till after class to apologize.
