The bright light coming from the flashlight imminently approached. I could hear people talking and for a while, I was torn between letting these people find us or hiding somewhere. Even though I’m immensely confident that I could carry Roger on my back, I am still worried about the hound dogs barking. It’s way easier for them to follow our tracks. They have the same senses as us and it would be a great risk if we try to hide.

I ended up taking the risk. I have been taking risks for such a long time that this felt nothing to me. I am here to save the only person that’s putting some renewed meaning to my life.

“Get on my back, Willis!” Making my voice soft and almost inaudible, I instructed Roger what to do.

“What?”

“Just get on my back, I’ll carry you.” I ducked right in front of him so he could have an easier time jumping on my back. I know he’s in immense pain, his ankle was shot that I had to guide him through.

“Okay...”
