Millie's P.O.V.
It was finally prom day! I was feeling overwhelmed and ecstatic. I finally get to spend time with the guy of my dreams. I couldn't wait to show off my dress to him!
I went to Alison's house so we can get dressed together. We already had our hair and makeup done. I put on the dress then put on the necklace Hayden gave me. I had gotten pretty attached to it and found myself wearing it all the time.
Millie's P. O. V.We took a walk under the moonlight. He stopped all of a sudden, then held my hand. This is what I had been waiting for. I've had a crush on this boy for six years, and now he was standing before me holding my hand. I should be overjoyed, but instead, I felt an unfamiliar pressure on my chest."Millie, I want to tell you something," Zack said.
Millie's P. O. V."When I was eight years old, he was seven. Our family went to England. We went to some type of craft show where this lady was selling handmade jewelry. I went to check out the stall with toys, but Hayden insisted on staying with mom," Zack paused.I urged him to go on.
Hayden's P.O.V.I had to force myself not to tell her how I felt. I wanted to kiss those red lips as I held her tight in my arms, but I resisted the urge. She was Zack's girl now. Just like she always wanted. I want to be happy for them as I love them both, but it hurt too much.I need to stay farther away from her. Maybe I will move somewhere else. I decided to enroll in a college out of state. I know my parents thought I gave
Millie's P.O.V.Hayden rode off somewhere in his motorcycle after our talk. Something was definitely wrong with him. I saw him a few times this week, and he didn't tease me once. For some reason, I hated it. I know I've complained about his endless teasing and name-calling, but without them, it was like something was missing in my life.I've been hanging out with Zack more. He was true to his words and was trying to make us wor
Hayden's POV. It has been a few days since I talked to her last. I thought I was ready to let her go, but I thought wrong. I pined for her for years, and it wasn't easy to just give up on her. I think about her every day. I was sitting at the breakfast table with my family when my dad hit me with the news. The news I had been dreading since last year. "We are going on a family camping trip, and before you say something smartass, yes, it is required that you go since you are part of our family," dad said. "Yeah, whatever," I said. I didn't feel like I was part of the family some days. I felt like an outsider and they merely tolerated my existence. "Millie will also be joining us since she is practically family," mom said. Great, a four-day trip stuck watching the girl I love acting lovey-dovey with my brother. Just perfect. Now I don't want to go even more. Millie came up to me when I was packing up the car on the day of the tri
Millie's P.O.V. Zack held my hand as we walked down the creek. It has been a couple of weeks since we started to go out, but we haven't done anything other than hold hands or kiss occasionally. It was as if nothing had changed. I had a feeling he wasn't all that into me, but he was trying not to hurt my feelings. That wasn't the kind of relationship I wanted to have with him. When I kissed him, I didn't feel the type of passion I thought I would. There were no fireworks. My toes didn't curl and my heart didn't thump rapidly. Was I wrong all along? Maybe I was merely infatuated with him, and it was starting to dissipate. I needed to talk to him about it. "Zack I..." I started to speak but got tongue-tied. I was more nervous than I thought I would be. Go ahead Millie, ask him, I tried to encourage myself in my head. "Something wrong?" he asked, sensing my awkwardness around him. "How much do you like me?" I asked. There, I said it. Zack
Hayden P.O.V. Just like every other camping trip, this was no different. Dad is making us take a long hike. On what planet is this fun? Good thing I work out regularly now, so this wasn't as hard as it used to be. But I would rather stay home and ride my bike all day. Or hang out with my friends. The only upside was that I got to be near Millie. She looked mighty cute with her hiking outfit. I was already ahead of the rest of the family. I looked back a few times to check on Millie, who was suffering the most. Sweat drenched her body and face. She was out of breath. Poor thing. I almost offered to give her a piggyback ride but stopped myself since it was Zack's job now. I was surprised Zack didn't slow down for his girlfriend. He just kept walking like it was a competition. Some gentleman. I made a mental note to scold him about it later. I decided to sit down and rest for a few minutes. Maybe let those two girls catch up. I saw Alison walking
Millie's P.O.V. I held on to him tight as he carried me through the woods. I am starting to realize something. Hayden is a complete fake. He acts all tough and acts like he doesn't give a shit about anything but underneath, he is a sweetheart. He came to look for me because he didn't want me to walk alone. He was worried about me. But I bet he'd rather die before he admits it. I tightened my arms around him a little more. He wasn't kidding. He is pretty strong. He had been carrying me for a while, yet he didn't even look tired. His strong arms held my legs tightly around his waist. His hair smells like a mixture of shampoo and sweat, which was weirdly comforting to me. "Um...did you just sniff me?" he asked suddenly. "What? No, I didn't!" I said quickly. Maybe I was a little. How could he tell! "I felt you sniff my hair. You freak," he laughed. "I'm telling Zack that you are a total weirdo." "Shut up. Why would I sniff you? You smell g
