Chapter 21

Rory shifted in bed and let out a sigh as she opened her eyes to the darkness of the room. She couldn't quite explain the restlessness she felt within her, but something was keeping her from going back to sleep. Turning to her side, she saw Caleb sleeping peacefully beside her. He looked so peaceful and content, and she couldn't help but smile.

However, her mind began to wander, and she found herself lost in thought. She started to think about her childhood, her parents, and everything that had brought her to this moment. She let out another deep sigh, and Caleb stirred in his sleep.

"Hey, you okay?" he murmured groggily, his voice deep and rough from sleep.

Rory turned to face him and smiled weakly. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just can't sleep."

Caleb propped himself up on his elbow, looking at her with concern. "Is there something on your mind?"

She hesitated for a moment, then decided to open up. "I was just thinking about my childhood. My parents, my upbringing, everything."
