34: a revelation

I wasn't sure I could maintain my composure but I went back to the ball room knowing that I wouldn't cry if there were many people present .I found beta standing alone while others were still indulged in the dance and when his eyes met mine I immediately broke into a smile.

“is everything okay?” He asked raising one eyebrow.

I nodded positively, “yes.”

He took my hand and resumed slow dancing, “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” I just wanted to move past it and not talk about it.

There was silence between us at first and then he flipped me around pausing my dance movements, “you don't look like you're okay, if anything is up tell me.”

I wanted to keep lying to him and say I was OK but the minute I opened my mouth to speak tears began to fall from my eyes.

I could feel this internal panic as he immediately put his hand on my back, leading me out of the ballroom quietly. Once we were outside I buried my face in my arms feeling embarrassed, “I am so sorry.”
