Twelve

Emma had tousled and turned in the bed all night because she was in a new environment and couldn’t sleep well.

The first few seconds after she got up were almost humorous; her eyes bulged open when she didn’t recognize her surroundings, but she calmed down as soon as she did.She turned over to the clock on her bedside table to see that it was 6 a.m. in the morning; she had a class by eight, so she had some time to spare.

She rolled out of bed with a tousled bedhead; then taking a rubber, to tie her hair up in a messy bun before she made her way out of the room. She gave a peek through her door to see if Rowan was already out; she would rather not meet him first in the morning, but her stomach was in desperate need of food. She trudged into the hallway and to the kitchen, which looked like it was hardly used.

She was surprised with how spotless it looked, but thankfully there were fresh fruits in a basket and a coffee machine that seemed like it worked. Emma had turned to the cabinet
