Chapter Fifty-Four

Nikita’s POV

She is alive! Thanks the Goddess my mate and love is alive. The huge explosion that sounded earlier with only minutes between them sounded far off at first, but the last and definitely the loudest one seems to come from only a street over. Thick black smoke trails into the night sky and the smell of burning wood is heavy in the frigid air. My head buzzes from all the possible explanations and scenarios that play over and over again in my minds eye. When her voice rings into my chaotic mind I almost break down in tears of pure happiness. She cuts me off abruptly and proceeds to tell me to be ready, werewolves are chasing them and we must be ready to leave, now. Shock and worry fills my body and grips me with terror. Three men turn the corner and I feel them scan the street looking for me. These must be the wizards who have helped Celeste escape, but where is she?
