A common enemy

Laying silently in bed, Emma didn’t move a muscles as she watched Zane packed his stuff in a black back bag, and when she saw him shoved a 500 S&W Magnum in the back of his jeans before throwing his black coat over his shoulders, it was enough to pull her out of the sleepy haze that had engulfed her brain.

Her mind was foggy with fatigue from an emotional roller coaster since she knew that there was a fifty-fifty chance that he could get ambushed and hurt on this trip, and the thought made her sniff back a stray tear.

Hearing the sound, Zane turned around, meeting her eyes with a casual look, and yet, he worried about how much she saw and when she awake from sleep.

“Good Morning,” He said with a smile, but she saw through the facade, and he could tell because she had that knowing look in her eyes like she had a lot to say but didn’t want to say anything at all.
